Weight Training Diet
It doesn’t matter how many hours you spend on the elliptical or if you do crunches every day all day, you won’t achieve that lean flat stomach or cut body tone with out adding a well thought out weight training diet to your life. And this doesn’t mean just cutting down on the calories. A good muscle building diet consists of three parts: Eating clean, eating more, and eating frequently.
Does most of your diet come from food in a box? Processed foods are found boxed, bagged or jarred and they’re not part of a “clean” diet. Eating clean means to only consume foods that are as close to their natural state as possible. In other words, the food you put in your body should still resemble something that was grown from the ground up.
Contrary to what might seem like common sense, reducing calories does not necessarily mean you will lose weight. In fact, if you cut your caloric intake too much, your body will stubbornly hold on to that belly fat, forever hiding those six-pack abs you’re working so hard for. You need to feed your body enough calories to allow it to achieve a good, steady burn. Here’s a simple formula: take your goal weight and multiply it be 10. That number is the general number of calories you should be ingesting. For example, if a 200 pound man has a goal weight of 185, multiply 185 times 10. He should be consuming around 1,850 calories a day to reach his target weight.
Lastly, ditch the old idea of three meals a day. You need to feed your body more frequently to keep up the calorie burn. Think of your body’s calorie burning potential as a wooden stove. If you pile on a large stack of wood, the fire will burn strong, but will burn out when all the wood has been consumed. However, if you take the same pile of wood and feed the fire smaller pieces at a time, you’ll get a nice burn throughout the entire day. Your body works the same way with food. Eating five to six smaller meals spaced out throughout the day will turn your body into a fat burning oven!
So follow the mantra, “Eat clean, eat more, eat frequently,” and you’ll be on your way to achieving a body to be envied. And at the same time, this lean body diet will make you feel better and have more energy.
