Benefits of Weight Training
When you’ve decided enough is enough and you’re seriously ready to lose the weight and get in shape, please, please don’t overlook the benefits of weight training. Trust me, you will not turn into the Incredible Hulk, and neither does that have to be your goal.
Too many people shy away from lifting weights out of a far too narrow concept of what it means to weight train. Most people view consistent weight training as something to be done by only serious weight lifters and those who desire packs and packs of bulging muscles. This is simply not true. And holding onto to this dogmatic concept robs so many of the astounding health and body benefits that weight training has for the average person.
For starters, if you’ve decided you want to lose weight to look better, then you absolutely must incorporate a weight training schedule into your exercise. If you don’t add weights to your workouts, you may still lose weight by walking or running, but your body will look like the same body, only a little thinner. The only way to really change your body and to get the “fit” look is to lift weights. We’re not talking about huge barbells or massive weight plates; we’re talking about moderate weight.
It’s toned and sculpted muscle that gives a body that “fit” look. Running or walking combined with eating right, will definitely help you shed pounds. But to look great you need some musculature to your arms and legs. By following a weight training schedule, you’ll see the difference in your body within 2 to 3 weeks.
